Comment Fic Meme
Jan. 30th, 2014 09:38 pm
what's a comment fic meme anyway?
#1. leave a comment with a prompt/idea
(a. only one prompt per comment - if you have multiple prompts, make multiple comments)
#2. if you see a prompt you like and then write fic for it, you post the ficlet as a reply to that comment
#3. leave feedback. (if you can take the time to read a fic, you can take the time to leave feedback!)
how does it work?
You leave a prompt. The prompt indicates what kind of fic you want to see.
Anything with a & between two names denotes a platonic relationship. If you want to indicate a romantic relationship, use the / --> Sam & Felix vs. Sam/Felix
The prompt format should be as follows: Character A, prompt OR character A & character B, prompt OR character A/character B, prompt (or as many characters as you want, obviously)
Examples:
Jake & his mom, dealing with a lack of money
Jake/Sam/Sammy, Jake has a twin fantasy and this is as close as it gets
Andy & his family, expectations
Jake & Mike, the unicorn
Feel free to elaborate on your prompts. Being more specific can mean that you'll get exactly what you want, but it can also mean that no one is going to pick up your prompt because it's too specific.
general rules:
- tag your shit (put up warnings for NSFW content, underage sex, possible triggers - you know the drill)
- warn for SPOILERS (episode 13 is only a day old - not everyone has seen it, and spoiling it for others is mean)
- crossover prompts are fine
- technically the point of comment fic is that it's in the comments, but feel free to post elsewhere (AO3, your journal) and link to it from here (especially if the fic ends up being longer)
- contact me if you have a question
- tell your friends about it!
- HAVE FUN!
what NOT to do:
- negate/belittle/ridicule/argue/hate on someone's prompt (if you don't like it, ignore it)
- basically, no flaming or character bashing or anything of the sort
- deviate too far from the prompt (if your fic ends up being not at all what you expected, why not post it as a new un-prompted comment and link the original prompter so they can check it out if they want but don't feel obliged since you didn't, technically, fill their prompt)
SPOILERS
Episode 13 only just aired on January 30th - make sure that all spoilery content for that episode is underneath a spoiler tag. Don't know how? Copy the code below:
Let me know if there's anything I missed. I cobbled this together from several other comment fic memes in like twenty minutes. *g*

Date: 2014-02-03 02:14 pm (UTC)Since there is spoiler for episode 13, I try to put the story inside spoiler tag but html coding confuse me, so I am just going to post this over at AO3, although this is a very short shot.
I love Nowhere Boys and I am so so very happy that the fandom is growing, so I decided to contribute a little.
My writing isn't very good and my english is so-so but I hope this story lives up to your expectation.

Date: 2014-07-11 04:56 am (UTC)Dee smiles as she makes her way up the stairs to go to bed. She's exhausted, but happy. She can't quite believe he's back. They've all spent the last week terrified (although Pete and Vince would never admit it -- they are teenage boys, after all) that something had happened and Sam was never coming back, that's they'd find his body in a ditch somewhere with three others -- not even afforded an individual burial. But no, he's fine, and she has the cleared out fridge to prove it (she's going to have to go shopping again tomorrow). They still don't know what happened exactly (except for Sam's whole story, which they're pretty sure was just a joke), but Dee figures, he'll tell them when he's ready. It's not time to push. She's just glad he's back.
She stops outside his room briefly and smiles at him. She stops smiling when she realises he's twitching in his sleep. That's weird. Ever since he was a baby, Sam's always been a very peaceful sleeper. She creeps in. "Sweetie?"
He twitches, mutters and whimpers, curling up in his covers. She reaches out and shakes him slightly. "Sam?"
He wakes with a gasp.
For a second they just stare at each other in shock, until he finally lets go of his breath and manages a nervous laugh. "Sorry mum."
He breathes heavily, unevenly, almost shaking. "That's fine," she says. "Is everything alright?"
"Oh -- yeah," he says, not entirely convincingly. "Just nightmares, is all."
She smiles sympathetically. "Do you want to talk about them?"
"Not really," he says. "I mean, they wouldn't make much sense."
When's that ever stopped you? she wonders. She still remembers that nightmare he had when he was five, when for whatever reason they had a pool and the water in it floated into the sky to tell them the world was ending, so they had to hide in the supermarket carpark (and the Wiggles were there, apparently). She decides not to push that issue either. "Would you like me to stay away?"
He hesitates, then laughs again. "Mum, I'm almost sixteen."
She raises an eyebrow, and stands up to walk away.
"Alright, maybe for a few minutes?"
She smirks and sits down on the bed. He sighs and curls up further. She reaches across to stroke his hair gently. "I missed you, mum," he mutters.
"I missed you too, love," she says, pulling her hand back. He takes it and squeezes it briefly. He stares as if he's rather surprised by something. She doesn't know what.
They sit there in silence, hands linked. "My poor boy," she mutters, mostly just to fill the space. "My little Sammy."
His hand pulls away.
"Oh, of course, you're too old to be called that." She's halfway through rolling her eyes when she notices him turning over to face away from her. "Sam?"
"Don't call me that," he mumbles, and she blinks in bewilderment. She knows he doesn't like being called that, but...
"Of course not, sweetheart," she says. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." He pauses. "You can go now Mum. I'm fine."
"Darling?" She's very confused. "Darling you know you can talk to me, right?"
Silence.
She sighs. "I'll be in my room if you need anything." Because it is late, and they both need to sleep. "Sam?"
Nothing. Maybe he's nodded back off. She gets up and treads toward her room, getting into bed as quietly as possible. It's not like Sam to suddenly withdraw like that. It's not like Sam to withdraw at all. Maybe he'll feel better in the morning, she's not sure.
But she's left wondering, again, what exactly happened to her son.
